Safe, space-saving mezzanine access ladder that stores flat against the wall
The Stockmaster Mezzalad is a mezzanine ladder with handrails designed for workplaces that need safe, repeatable access to upper levels without sacrificing valuable floor space. When it’s not in use, Mezzalad stores flat against the wall, then swings into position with a simple lift and pull action, so it’s always there when you need it and out of the way when you don’t.
With a 600mm step width and two full-length handrails, Mezzalad makes climbing feel stable and predictable. The handrails extend 900mm above the upper floor so users can step through safely while maintaining a secure handhold right through the transition onto the mezzanine.
Complete your mezzanine access system
For a true end-to-end mezzanine solution, pair the Stockmaster Mezzalad with the Mezzalift mezzanine goods lift. Mezzalad provides safe, three-point-contact access for staff, while Mezzalift handles the movement of stock up to 60kg, creating a practical two-part system for everyday mezzanine use.
- Mezzalad – stable, compliant personnel access with upper safety gate
- Mezzalift – controlled transport of boxes and equipment up to 60kg
- Removes the need to carry items while climbing a ladder

Why buyers choose Mezzalad ladders for mezzanine access
Mezzalad solves the two biggest pain points with mezzanine access: wasted space and unsafe transitions. The wall-storing design keeps aisles, walkways and work areas clear, while the extended handrails and upper-floor gate help operators step onto the mezzanine in a controlled way without awkward climbing, overreaching, or losing their grip.
It’s commonly used for access to mezzanine floors, lofts, loading docks, and storage areas above factory offices, tea rooms and back-of-house spaces.
Upper floor safety gate
A safety gate is provided at the upper floor level to maintain the integrity of the perimeter railing. Importantly, the gate can be opened or closed with the operator standing fully on the upper floor, which removes the risks associated with operating a gate while standing on the ladder.
Detachable mezzanine ladder for multiple locations
Mezzalad is fastened at the upper floor level and installs simply using two universal brackets. Fixing can be made to the upper floor or to a wall, using bolts or screws. If you need to use the ladder in more than one location, you can do that by fitting additional bracket sets (Mezz-Brackets).
Sizes and how to choose the right mezzanine loft ladder

Mezzalad is designed to automatically adjust its angle of incline between 60 and 70 degrees to suit your actual floor height. This means each model covers a range of heights rather than a single fixed measurement. When you pull the ladder out from the wall, it will settle at the correct angle for your mezzanine level within the range shown in the table above.
To select the right model:
- Measure your floor height from the lower floor to the top surface of the mezzanine.
- Find the model where your height falls between the minimum and maximum service height.
- Check you have adequate pull-out clearance in front of the ladder.
- Confirm there are no overhead obstructions when the ladder moves between stored and use positions.

Operating space requirements
When the ladder is pulled out into the use position, space is needed for safe mounting and dismounting:
- Recommended clearance behind user: 0.8m
- Absolute minimum: 0.6m
As the ladder angle changes within the 60–70° range, the amount it projects into the room and the height above the mezzanine in the stored position will also vary slightly.
Operating environment considerations
- Point of attachment: The structure being attached to must comply with relevant building codes. Independent structures (such as free-standing mezzanines) must be capable of withstanding a 120kg horizontally applied force in any direction at the point of attachment.
- Pull-out clearance: In use, allow space for safe mounting and dismounting. The desirable clearance behind the user is 0.8m and should not be less than 0.6m.
- Overhead clearance: When moving between stored and use positions, ladder height above the upper floor can increase depending on incline. Check overhead obstructions where the ladder will move.
- Upper floor intrusion: When opening into the use position, the ladder intrudes into the upper floor area. Check available space on the mezzanine where the ladder will land.
Designed for personnel access
Mezzalad is designed for personnel access between floors. It is not intended for conveying large or heavy items between levels. Any items carried should be small and light, able to be carried in one hand, and must allow three points of contact while ascending or descending.
For transferring heavier loads up to 60kg between floors, we suggest the Stockmaster Mezzalift.
